Custom Blueprinted Action on Stealth Rifle

A great new video out from Savage Arms that uses and Showcases the Stealth Rifle as its focal point highlighting the special accuracy advantages of using a custom Blueprinted Action and its components. It has been a great privilege for Drake Associates to work with Savage on this very special long range precision rifle system from the ground up. This Stealth long range rifle is the same system that was recently used by an Army National Guard team at the US Army International Sniper Competition at Fr. Benning in October. It was reported that the rifle was consistently hitting and yielding SUB-MOA results out to 1100 meters in the 308 Winchester caliber.

This .308 Model 10 BA Is
Light, Strong And Accurate

Combining elements of an AR with the barreled action of a bolt gun, a completely new modular hybrid in the firearm world has emerged along with a new descriptive term—the chassis rifle. Chambered in the sensationally accurate 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5mm Creedmoor, .308 Win and .243 Win, the chassis rifle has been burning up the increasingly popular long-range and tactical matches. A new chassis model, our Savage 10 BA “Stealth,” debuted recently.

The heart and soul of a chassis rifle is a precisely machined aluminum body assembly with a magazine well, a lower and, possibly, an upper handguard. The chassis accepts and anchors the barreled action in place. Normally, the chassis features a solid “V” block bedding system that eliminates the need for glass bedding while other chassis makers offer an adjustable bedding block. Either way, the build is basically a drop-in fit. Once the chassis and barreled action are joined, the fun begins as a rifle build such as this now offers the maker almost unlimited options for triggers, pistol grips, buttstocks, sights and accessory rails.

Savage is well-known for producing rifles that outperform their price points. In fact, they often can outshoot rifles that cost twice as much or more. I recently had a chance to try out the 10 BA Stealth, which is designed to be lightweight, simple, and above all accurate. It’s available in either .308 Win or 6.5 Creedmoor. Starting with a factory blueprinted action, Savage adds a precision barrel, in this case a 24-inch 1:8 twist, fluted barrel with 5/8 x 24” threading at the muzzle. This barreled action is factory designed for the best possible accuracy unlike others that simply drop a run-of-the-mill setup in a nice stock.  It comes with a single-piece flat rail (no elevation) for scope attachment, and an oversized bolt knob.
